Home Style: Velvet Sofas

I will be moving soon, and at least one piece of seating in my living room must be made of velvet. The smooth and luxurious fabric brings a little "Hollywood" glamour into your space, unlike any other! Plus, it is easy to care for and usually comes in a bunch of fun styles and colors to suit your taste. Here are a look at some of my faves!

The Haute House New Orleans Velvet Sofa
Black velvet sofa features ruched detailing, tufted back and base, two large throw pillows, maple legs, and hardwood frame.
$3,899.00

Jayson Home Landau Sofa
Upholstered in winston-moss velvet, includes goose down back cushions, and green cushioning and construction.
$1,499.00

Room and Board Loring Sofa
The incredibly soft velvet is reminiscent of a genteel era, while stainless steel accents on the feet add a modern touch.
$1,199.00

WS Home Wilshire Sofa
A tufted bench seat and down-blend filled cushions give this sofa clean lines and uninterrupted comfor.
$3,450.00

Mod Pod

I have a modern asthetic, but mixed with a classic twist. While this table does not necessarily have both, it would go great as a accent piece is a classic-mod room. The bright bold color and the artistic shape, make it a piece worth having and worth talking about. Plus, for $110.00 at Urban Outfitters how can you resist it!!!!!!!

Love in this Club

I must say that I am much MORE than excited about my family's potential move next April. I am most excited about decorating...like you couldn't guess that.
So when I find something tres chic...I get tres excited. Since I love West Elm, it is one of the first places I check.
And low and behold...this club chair was staring me back in the face when I recently perused the website.
The beautiful charcoal color, the look of silk shantung, and the not TOOOO bad price tag of $599...I could just see myself lounging reading the newest issue of Vogue!
And if you can see yourself reading Vogue in it...we all know that is love!
Check out this chair and many more wonderful items at West Elm .

Be Unique

One surefire way to show off your style is to find a piece, whether clothing or furnishings, that has bottled up your personality into tangible form.
This bookcase by Stanislav Katz is my personality...I am reserved and functional but there is an unexpected POP that most people only get to see if they are welcomed.
This bookcase is also a chaise lounge, and it functions double duty.
Up against a white wall in a black and white themed room...this would be the surefire center of attention!!!!

Bid On It

Ebay has tons of great finds, but I found one that is just magnificent.
This wood table, made from the trunk of a tree and finished, is not only gorgeous but at $150.00 it is cheap and practical.
You could put this front and center in any room and have a piece worth talking about for years to come!
This would fit just as well in a modern home as it would a vintage inspired home or even a contemporary style home.
The possibilities are as endless as the table!

Button Hooked

In my efforts to find a stylish and contemporary...yet comfortable and practical (picky, I know!) sofa for our living area, I have found tons of things I like and tons of things I love that are wayyy too pricey, but only one sofa that knocks my socks off and that I can afford without cashing in my son's savings bonds.

The Elliott Sofa by West Elm is that sofa. It has clean and contemporary lines, yet it is so stylish and so practical. It comes in two colors, I am leaning more towards the "wet sand" colored sofa myself, more sophisticatedly termed "clay". It will go perfect with my orange and teal accents and dark wood furniture.

Check it out at West Elm !

Pop the Cork

There are tons of different ways to cover your floor today!
Since my husband and I are looking to buy a home next year, we are considering all the "green" possibilities that are also economical and well...attractive and stylish!

So when we were researching flooring, cork, bamboo, and eucalytus...CORK? were options that we had never heard of, let alone considered.

After looking into the durability, longevity, and cost of this option...we were surprised to find out that they can be customized in any color you could imagine, they are hypoallergenic, anti-microbial and anti-fungal, they are resilient and retain their thickness under normal wear, and can be glued or come in planks...for a hardwood type installation.

Go to Duro Design to find out more about cork, bamboo, or eucalyptus floors. You just might BEE amazed!
